Tips for Cleaning Your Glass-Top Range

Tips for Cleaning Your Glass-Top Range

The biggest need for a cleanup is mostly in the kitchen, as we use all of it's elements every day. All of the dirt leftover from the dishes prepared gets stuck to a cooktop, so they need a regular clean. If you own a glass-top range, every little spill can be noticed. For this reason, it's advised to take time every now and then to perform some steps for thorough cleaning, to achieve the best shape of your glass-top range for as long as possible.

Take a look at these tips for cleaning a glass-top range.

It's very important to have these things in mind before you start cleaning your cooktop:

  • Some brands require specific products, so you want to make sure you're in sync with the cleaning instructions of your range. To be certain not to void the warranty, those instructions need to be precisely followed.
  • Glass-top cooktops are fragile if some tools are used on them. They can leave scratches. Best way to perform a cleaning is to use a soft cloth or a sponge.
  • If your cooktop surface is still hot, always wait for it to cool down.

Daily Surface Cleaning

The surface needs to be wiped down after every use in order to maintain its condition and functionality. Using a soft cloth or a sponge with a little vinegar is advised for cleaning the surface, of course, no sooner then when it cools down.

Deep and Weekly Cleaning

Cleaning should be much more thorough when it comes to heavier stains. Don't panic - this performance is much easier then it looks. Once again, we need to wait for the cooking surface to cool down. As soon as it's cool, the surface should be sprayed with vinegar first. After a few minutes, spray some baking soda over the surface so the mix will be created. Get a clean towel and soak it in hot water. This towel is used to be spread over the surface previously sprayed with a mix of vinegar and baking soda. After approximately twenty minutes, move the towel away from the surface. All you have to do after this is to wipe the surface with a soft cloth.

When it comes to deep clean, this method is advised to perform only in case the stains are heavy for any other way. Before you start with these steps, make sure to check your range's instruction manual. These appliances may include some restrictions on the usage of rough objects, which can cause a void of their warranty. If this is not the case with your range, you can proceed with these steps. To perform this action you will be needing a razor blade. First, when the surface is cool, spray some vinegar on the heavily-cooked stains and wait for a few minutes for the vinegar to loosen them. Now comes the razor blade. When working with it you want to hold it as flat as possible against the surface, not using the corners since they will for sure make scratches. Gently scrape the burnt-on food away by using light pressure on the blade. After this, take away the leftover material with a soft sponge or cloth.
