The Best Times of the Year To Buy Large Appliances
Somehow, most of us wait for the appliance to come to the end of its lifespan to purchase a new one. This is, however, a mistake for many reasons. First of all, you will never run into a great appliance deal when making an impulse purchase. Additionally, planning your purchase in advance will provide much more conveniences both in terms of budget and quality.
A Good Plan Provides the Best Results
Everyone tries to make the most use of their appliance, which is logical, as it was purchased to serve us the best way possible. However, what we should pay attention to is the performance of the appliance and plan our purchase in advance.
It's not that difficult to plan when your appliance will reach the end of its life, as manufacturers today provide their appliance's estimated lifespan. Therefore, depending on the date of purchasing your appliance, you can roughly plan to look for a new one. Another thing to pay attention to is when did your appliance start showing a lack in its performance. By that time you should know something's going on.
Perfect Timing
For many appliances, the beginning of autumn is the best time for purchase. During September and October, manufacturers clear out the space for the newest models, therefore, the slightly older ones are at a discount. Otherwise, new refrigerators are mostly released during summer so the best time to shop for a new refrigerator would be sometime in May as there will be a discount on last year's items. Now, as some appliance retailers keep their inventory while making room for the newest models, they will surely try to push the sales on older ones with quite larger discounts. For this reason, it's a good time to do this shopping somewhere in January, as there will be various great deals on some limited models.
If you do need to buy at other times of the year, try to time your purchase with a holiday weekend. Most retailers have sales corresponding to virtually all the holidays. Even minor holidays can provide an excellent opportunity to get a deal, but just be sure to comparison shop, as some sale prices are not necessarily the lowest around.
Handling Urgent Situation
While planning is a great idea, there may be times when this is not possible. If you’re moving home, suffer property damage or your appliance suddenly dies, you’ll need to shop for an appliance quickly. Fortunately, there are still some things you can do to get a great deal.
If possible try to wait until the end of the month to make your purchase. Many appliances are sold subject to quotas or on commission, so the end of the month provides an opportunity to negotiate some serious savings. Many salespeople are keen to get the sale registered this calendar month to hit their target, so you may find you can agree on an attractive deal.
If you can’t wait until the end of the month, try to shop during the week. Most retailers are far busier on the weekends. Not only will you need to cope with jammed parking lots, but the salespeople will also be busy. This means that you may feel rushed into making a decision. Shopping on a weekday will mean more attention and could allow you to negotiate a better deal.
